I know we talked about this, but for the rest of the folks wondering, we are opening up the system to accept video submissions via email, and also upload from the web.
The app is becoming more of a "upload assistant" but Im finding a lot of golfers who already have videos on their phone, and now you can simply email your video to Swingbot to get started.
Its working great so far, and we are exciting to make this a public release.
So Android users rejoice, you don't NEED an app anymore to enjoy the benefits of Swingbot. The website is now fully functional so you can view all of your lessons online, and instructional videos as well. If you can record a video on your device (any device) and can email us the video, you're good to go!
In the "new system" of Swingbot you can do just that. You will simply use the app to upload a video and let us know if you WANT a video analyzed. Then you will receive an email allowing you to choose a lesson program that we will use to process the video.
We are creating MANY programs with many different teachers so you will have the opportunity to pick and choose which teacher and which lesson program you want.
I think this makes much more sense than just submitting a video blindly. I also did this because I was getting videos from users using all different camera angles, and with the new system you have to confirm the angle before processing the lesson, so you don't "lose" a credit if you made a mistake while recording.
I hope this helps!
If you are getting an error based on the location thats a bug. It is NOT required, so thank you for letting me know, and this will be resolved in the next release.
We want to get your location for when you record the video. I am putting together a program so that I can potentially offer free golf lessons to everyone if I can get advertisers to cover the cost. So, if I can get free golf lesson because of advertising I thought that would be a great compromise ;-) They want to know how many videos for location, and I also thought it would be great to keep track of where you recorded the video for your own benefit.
Well now is the time. I can now make a Swingbot app for Apple TV, and I am. So its coming soon.
Right now you can view your videos on Google Chromecast if you have one available. AppleTV does not have an open SDK that we can use YET. But when they do I will absolutely have a swingbot app for AppleTV.
In the meantime, you can check out the video on your big screen tv using Google Chromecast. Its a hidden feature, and when you select a video you will see the chrome cast icon in the upper right corner of the app screen (if the chrome cast is discoverable)
Thanks for the suggestion!
That's hilarious and thank you for the compliment on the app! Im constantly trying to improve, so maybe I can work in a vibration feature in the phone so you can hold it to your shoulders ;-) But seriously, are you saying the upload is taking a long time?
Depending on your network connection we are uploading the videos using something called "chunking" so the entire video will always finish uploading. We upload small chunks at a time and if the connection on your phone isn't "awesome" then it tends to take a second to upload completely.
I wish I had a better solution, but if I degrade the quality of the video, then thats not good for anyone. Ill keep thinking about new ways to potentially compress the video prior to uploading so that the file is smaller.
Thanks again for the comment!
I like that idea and had this as a feature way back when. I will try and add this back into an upcoming version.
Interesting you shuould say that, we had notes way back when, and took them out to focus solely on the lesson. So, the good news is, its already coded we just have to turn it back on essentiaily.
Do you want notes PER video, or just general notes? We had general notes like a golf journal you could write in. The audio comments can be used for per video comments if you would like.
Ill think more about this, but general notes can be done very quickly and added back to the app.
